Know all about the integral components that went into building OliveDAO
All roles and functionalites that makes OliveDAO
OliveDAO offers a simple solution to a complex problem — providing sustainable liquidity to web3 protocols 🏺
But there are a lot of things that go into the making of OliveDAO. Here is a simple explanation of what particular roles & functions mean and their significance inside OliveDAO.

Liquidity Directors

They are users that vote lock their OLIVE to get veOLIVE and allocate votes to Asset Jars, in order to direct the inventory of these assets as liquidity to a preferred exchange.
LDs earn % APR rewards in the form of OLIVE for directing liquidity. This APR is a variable rate that is dependent upon a number of factors, discussed more extensively in the Jar Balance & Rewards Logic section. LDs can acquire OLIVE by providing liquidity and earning in the form of rewards, or by buying from the open market.

Liquidity Providers

They are participants that deposit a single asset into a specific Asset Jar, in order to contribute to the inventory that will then be paired and deployed as liquidity.
LPs earn % APR rewards in the form of OLIVE. This APR is a variable rate that is dependent upon a number of factors, discussed more extensively in the Jars Balance & Rewards Logic section.

Season

OliveDAO deploys liquidity in Seasons. Each season will be set to weekly upon going live with Liquidity Deployment. Assets deposited or veOLIVEs staked mid-Season only become “active” when a new Season begins.
Assets that needs to be withdrawn cannot be fully withdrawn until a new Season begins. OLIVE rewards only begin for newly deposited assets or staked veOLIVE at the start of a new Season. See Season for more info.

Quote Asset & Base Asset

In SUSHI/USDC pair, SUSHI is the Base Asset and USDC is the Quote Asset because SUSHI is being quoted against USDC.

Quote Jars

These are LP deposits of ETH, USDC and other popular stablecoins like USDT, Frax, DAI etc that can be then paired with assets from Base Jars. LDs can stake veOLIVE to the Quote Jars, to balance and determine the depth of pooled Quote Jar assets needed for optimal liquidity deployment, while also acting as Quote Jar collateralization.

Base Jars

Base Jars are where LPs deposit assets like SOL, MATIC, DOT, AAVE, SUSHI, etc. These are then paired with Quote Assets and deployed to provide liquidity.
Asset Jar = Quote Jars + Base Jars

Protocol Controlled Assets (PCA)

It refers to OliveDAO’s treasury, the assets that the protocol utilizes for liquidity deployment, assets reserved for IL mitigation, and trading fees accrued from providing liquidity. By holding OLIVE, the holders are entitled to share in the PCA.
